Normal Ben

Normal Ben is the handle of multi disciplinary audio producer and sound artist, myself, Benjamin Cowen.
​
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Music and Sound Design from London South Bank University, and have been recording music as an artist and collaborator for the best part of a decade, and have created this website as a home for my work, musings, and as a point of contact for all things music and sound.
​
My work has lead me to collaborate with artists, brands, and take on youth work and work in education. I have worked as a youth club studio engineer with Ladbroke Grove youth centre Kids on the Green, and am currently employed part time as a music tech teacher for primary years across a range of schools in London.
​
My portfolio contains mainly my own artist project 'Normal Ben', written produced and engineered entirely in house by myself, as well as a couple of forays into the world of sync music and adaptive audio for game and other visual media.
​
My blog, serving both as a production diary and a journalistic writing project, is also attached.
​

My latest commercial release is a collaboration with rising alt rnb star raad: her song 'thee' from her new album 'YDEC'

The song was recorded and produced in house, before being mixed by renowned Rex Orange County mix engineer Tom Archer.

Foray into Sync
I am in the process of developing a portfolio for sync music, and hope to expand my skills into composing for licensed film/advertisement/visual media
